Almond Blossom
This old fruit tree is the first to flower in our garden - it
blooms at about the same time as the Forsythia!
This fruit often sets well, it is the
mainstream fruit crop that tends to fail - due to frost damage in
April and May.

Cream Daffodils
These are old bulbs which came, via my Father,
from my Grandfather's garden in Forfar.
There used to be an all white
flowered variety, but they seem to have been lost in the
flitting.

Wild Daffodils
These bulbs are naturalised on our site and grow in profusion
everywhere.
The nice feature is that there are obviously
several varieties, giving a flowering range from March to late
May.
|
Forsythia
This plant gives a massive show, commencing in late March and
continuing for about four weeks.
When this shrub catches the sun one really
feels that Spring has arrived.

Camelia
Due to centuries of use as a kitchen garden our soil has had too much lime
applied to it to suit calcifuge plants. As a consequence the camelia
does no always do as well as this.
This good flower was the result of the application of much acidic peat and chelating agents, plus a good spring that year. |
